A man who crushed up and boiled a flower called Angel Trumpets to get high was arrested on a charge of pedestrian under the influence after a deputy noticed him staggering around Plainview Road and Sage Field Circle in Jefferson last week.
After being taken to the hospital where he was medically cleared, Christopher Sampson, 30, was taken to the Jackson County jail. A doctor said he had a mix of amphetamines, marijuana and flowers in his system
Before his arrest, Sampson provided the deputy with several different stories for why he was in the roadway, including waiting for his ride and walking to his girlfriend’s house. He could also barely stand up without falling over, according to the police report.
When the deputy asked Sampson if he had taken anything, he reportedly said some “Angel Trumpets,” which is a flower he crushed up and boiled to ingest for the use of a hallucinogen. While the deputy was talking with him, Sampson kept trying to pick up things on the ground that weren’t there, as well as referred to “his girlfriend” that he said was standing beside him, although no one else was there.
Sampson also threw up in the deputy’s car on the way to the jail.
