The House of Scarecrows at the Hoschton Heritage Arts Center will open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. in October.
Almost 500 people visited the House during the Hoschton Fall Festival last weekend. Visitors were very complimentary and some came back more than one time since tickets were good for the whole day.
Visitors can see the Evolution of Scarecrow, color scarecrows, the Hunton miniature General Store, travel the Scarecrow Maze, see hundreds of photos of previous scarecrows, learn how Hoschton became the Scarecrow Capital of the World, buy Scarecrow Hat cookies, T-shirts, and so much more.
The winners of this year’s competitions are also displayed. They include: Charles Livingston-Individual category, Hoschton Animal Hospital-Business, and the Braselton Rotary Club 5-K Run for Nonprofit. The Team Competition winners are also on view for the WJ Fire Department, the Hoschton Women’s Civic Club and the winners – the Town of Hoschton under leadership of the Mayor Theresa Kenerly.
“The House of Scarecrows is for all ages,” Robbie Bettis states. “Kids love the photo area while adults appreciate the creativity throughout the House. This is almost the only place to see scarecrows this year so tourists who come to the area looking for scarecrows should be directed to 74 White Street on Saturdays and Sunday afternoons.”
