A search warrant at a Hoschton gas station led to the seizure of several illegal gambling machines and warrants issued for the arrest of the man who operates the store last week.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, Oct. 24, executed a search warrant following an undercover investigation regarding illegal gambling machines within the Citgo gas station located at 210 Hwy. 53, according to Sheriff Janis Mangum.
The sheriff’s office says it seized four machines, a ticket printer and an undisclosed amount of cash as a result of the search. Deputies also reportedly seized numerous packages of synthetic marijuana from the store.
Criminal arrest warrants have been obtained for Malik Babwani of Lawrenceville. Babwani will face charges of commercial gambling, keeping a gambling device and possession of gambling device or equipment.
Babwani was not at the store at the time of the search. Mangum said Babwani’s attorney said he is supposed to turn himself in sometime this week.
