ATHENS - Maxwell Bernard Ward (Daddy Max, Papa Max), lived a wonderful 84 years, the majority spent in his home in Athens. He left us Tuesday, October 30, 2013.
Max was born February 13, 1929, in Taccoa, the son of John Amos and Leatus Sellers Ward. He graduated from Commerce High School and later from Pacific
Western University with a Master of Science in engineering management. Max gave 26 years to the United States Air Force, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. He worked for Saudi Arabian Airlines and later with Mutual of Omaha. Anyone that knew him knew that loving him came with the condition that you love to talk sports, news and weather. The Braves, Bulldogs and Falcons will have a new angel next season.
Max leaves behind an abundance of loved ones including his wife, Alice Ward; children, Ronny Ward, Commerce, Sheila David, Commerce, Keith Ward, Cape Coral, Fla., Alan Reeve, London, England, Wanita Dreadin, Pensacola, Fla., Ed Reeve, Waterford, Va., and Keith Reeve, Leesburg, Va.; 12 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews; his beloved dogs, Abby and Little Bit; and siblings, Joyce Hart, Royston, Sarah Calverley, Chiply, Fla., Hazel Bridges, Royston, and John Amos Ward Jr., Homer.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 1, at St. Stephen's Anglican Church off Timothy Road from 7 to 8 p.m.
