A Colbert man was arrested recently after he allegedly beat up the mother of his child and kicked her car, causing damage to it.
Erin Jakavious Allen, 29, was charged with battery FVA and criminal damage to property second degree.
Deputy Larry MacKay went to Alberta Drive where he met with the woman, who was upset and crying. She said Allen, who is also the father of her child, kicked her car when they got into an argument.
MacKay located Allen in a trailer behind a home a few doors down.
He was holding a rag to his face and said that the woman hit him and cut his lip and that is why he kicked the car. He said he did not want to press charges and that if the officers would just let him go he would agree to get the car fixed. At that time he was placed under arrest for criminal damage to property.
The officers then went back to the woman’s home where further investigation showed that Allen had been the primary aggressor in the incident. The woman said that they had been arguing when he burned her hand with a cigarette and punched her in the leg. He then allegedly grabbed her hair and began hitting her in the head and back. He pulled her hair hard enough that he pulled hair out of her head, according to the report. She said that she swung at him and hit him to trying to get him to let go of her hair. Allen was taken to jail.
In another arrest, Kimberly Dawn Lamorte, 47, of Athens, was charged with loitering or prowling and criminal trespass.
Officer Larry MacKay was traveling on Hwy. 29 South when he noticed the gate open to several storage buildings at a storage facility. He noted in his report that officers had been briefed that there had been several burglaries and that the gate should be locked after business hours. MacKay drove into the area to check it out and noticed some items stacked in the driveway between the buildings. He drove around back where he noticed that three of the units were open and he got out to check them. One of the units was empty and one was only partially open. He shined his flashlight into the third unit and found Lamorte hiding inside. When asked what she was doing there at 2 a.m., she said she was moving her stuff into the storage locker. She then said that she had a fight with her boyfriend “Carlos” and that she was moving her belongings from locker 58 to 29. She stated that she had rented the locker around 1 p.m. on Nov. 12. Dispatch contacted the owner of the storage units who said Lamorte had been at the location, but had not paid any rent for a storage unit and did not have any right to be on the premises. The owner also stated that no one should be at the location except during business hours.
