The Jackson County Board of Commissioners approved a list of five county roads Monday night to submit for funding through the state’s Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant program.
These roads include: Waterworks Road, Ednaville Road, Galilee Church Road, North Jackson Loop and Lyle Field Road.
In other business at the meeting Monday night, the BOC approved:
•a text amendment requiring that no grass be taller than twelve inches.
•a text amendment that will allow permits to be issued to "repair the damage of existing structures." The building must have a pre-existing building permit and must be in compliance with that permit.
•the re-adoption of building codes in compliance with mandatory and codes mandated by the state.
•the adoption of an urban redevelopment plan for the county and defined the BOC as an Urban Redevelopment Agency.
•an intergovernmental agreement with Barrow and Banks counties to continue to provide Juvenile Court services.
•a contract with Correct Health to provide inmate medical services at the Jackson County Jail and Correctional Institute.
•a contract with Trinity Services Group, Inc., to provide inmate food service.
•the renewal alcohol license application for Corleone’s Pizzeria. The restaurant currently has an alcohol license in unincorporated Jackson County.
