A local woman had to call police on a man she met through an online Christian dating site after she returned home, found him drunk on her sofa, the house a mess and vomit on the floor, according to a Commerce police arrest report.
The 24-year-old white female called police to her Heritage Hills apartment and explained that she met Nicholas James Phillips, 33, of Minot, North Dakota, on a Christian dating site and had picked him up at a Banks Crossing motel, after which he stayed at her apartment.
The woman said she returned from a church outing to find Phillips drunk on the couch and the residence in disarray, so she ordered him out. He packed his belongings and walked out, but came back and knocked on the door, at which time she told him she would drop him off somewhere when she finished cleaning up the mess. She said he became angry, pushed the door open and hit the wall, leaving a hole. She ran next door and he left on foot.
When police caught up with Phillips on Waterworks Road, he reportedly verified the victim’s account of the incident. Police charged him with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness and took him to the Jackson County Jail.
