Improvements being made at the track at Banks County High School will make it possible for regional track meets to be held at the site.
The project, which is being funded with ELOST revenue, includes adding two lanes for a total of eight. The improvements will get the track to Georgia High School Association requirements for hosting meets.
The board of education heard an update on the project at the work session meeting Thursday night. David White and Todd Gilbert of RLR Architects gave a status report on the project and answered questions from the BOE.
The BOE discussed including another building as part of the project and using it to store athletic equipment. Staff will compile equipment that could be stored in the building and submit the space needed.
In other business at the meeting Thursday night, Shane Roberts was re-elected as chairman of the BOE with Michael Boyle named to again serve as vice chairman.
