The Jackson County Board of Commissioners has formally objected to efforts by a large multi-national land speculation company annexing over 1,000 acres into the City of Arcade. Last week, the BOC delivered a letter to Arcade formally opposing the annexation of property owned by Walton International. But the legal implications of the county’s position on the matter remain unclear.
Arcade is expected to begin the annexation process for the property on Feb. 18.
The letter came following a brief meeting of the BOC last Thursday night. The room was packed with people opposed to the proposed annexation.
BOC chairman Tom Crow told the crowd that the county had no authority over the annexation.
