According to a Commerce Police Department arrest report, a 17-year-old many made a memorable entry into a Commerce woman’s apartment.
Tyreke Qumaine Walker, 38 Katie Lane, Commerce, allegedly climbed onto a balcony of a Heritage Hills apartment and entered the apartment wearing nothing but his underwear and clutching his genitals.
Exactly what he had in mind is not known, but the responding officer found Walker out on the apartment balcony wearing pink sweatpants and black underwear – with no socks, shoes or shirt. The report noted that the temperature at the time was about 24 degrees.
The report said Walker, who first told police his name was Walkur, claimed that he was trying to get a friend to come to the door because his girlfriend had locked him out of the apartment after throwing his phone into the woods. The 71-year-old white female occupant of the apartment advised police that Walker had stolen her telephone, and Walker allegedly admitted “borrowing the phone with the intent of stealing it” and further admitted that he’d thrown the phone into the woods when no one would answer his calls. Eventually, he also admitted that he did not know anyone at the apartment, that his girlfriend did not live in the complex and that he “could not recall” how he got to the apartment complex.
Police charged him with theft by taking, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and obstruction of officers.
At the jail, the report said, Walker told police that he’d taken off his socks and shoes because they both had drugs in them, but police recovered the socks, shoes and a sweatshirt and found no drugs.
