The Bethlehem Christian Academy basketball teams will conclude regular season region play this Friday when they venture to Thomas Jefferson.
Following Friday, the Knights and Lady Knights will begin full preparations for the upcoming GISA Region 1-A tournament which will be hosted by Curtist Baptist in Augusta.
BCA hosted region foe John Hancock Academy Tuesday. Despite leading early, the Lady Knights fell 35-27 to the Lady Rebels. Sarah Beth Adams scored eight points and had seven rebounds while Ravyn Harrison, the team’s lone senior, finished with eight points and nine boards. Kara Maxwell added seven points while Jordan Garmon had six rebounds.
The Lady Knights led 9-7 after the first quarter and 17-14 at halftime. John Hancock, however, had moved ahead by one point after the third quarter and outscored BCA 12-5 in the final eight minutes.
In the boys game, BCA had little trouble on its way to a 68-20 victory. Coach Mark Barth used the game to allow his five seniors — Ben Morgan, Austin Schwebel, Kevin Green, Matthew Adams and Jesse Ferguson — to be the starting five.
Despite the new lineup, the Knights were clicking on all cylinders and jumped out to a 39-5 halftime lead.
Adams and Ferguson both scored 10 points while Green had nine points with four steals. Luke Allen, Brady Stewart and Schwebel all scored six points. Morgan had five points, but also pulled down 13 rebounds.
The BCA boys have added one final regular season, non-region game to their schedule. The Knights will travel to Young Americans Tuesday for a 5 p.m. game.
