Robert E. “Gene” King passed on Sunday morning, February 9, 2014, from natural causes.
Mr. King was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Velda Wells King.
Survivors include five children, Connie (Dr. John) Iacuone, Albuquerque, N.M.; Mitchell (Angela) King , Winder; Cathy (Dan) Dobbe, Dallas, Texas; Kim (Gary) Harbuck, Smyrna, and Wesley (Fran) King, Franklin, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, John C.King; and sister, Catherine Moran.
He worked at Pet Dairies in Winder for 25 years. He also worked as a truck driver for other companies until his retirement. He enjoyed studying nature, music, and, most of all, his family. Mr. King was born in 1933 in Greensboro. He was a member of Northside Presbyterian Church in Winder.
Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Saturday, February 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held Sunday, February 16, at 2 pm in Smith Memory Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Northside Presbyterian Church in his memory.
