Ralph Richardson Jr. has announced plans to run for the District 3 post of the Jackson County Board of Commissioners, which is currently being held by Bruce Yates who is up for re-election this November for the four-year office.
Richardson, 60, a native of Jackson County, is retired from 26 years of military service and is also a former Town of Braselton councilmember, where he served from 2003 to 2010.
“It is my fervent belief that we need qualified, aggressive leadership ahead to face the economic, environmental and growth challenges that are before us,” said Richardson, in a statement. “With the current financial environment that our citizen’s face, it is more important than ever that we continue to be good stewards of the county’s finances so that we can prevent property owners from having to pay higher taxes. In addition to a focus on providing good service to District 3 citizens, I am the best candidate to provide strong, positive, unifying leadership that will bring us together to keep Jackson County moving in the right direction. I have a vested interest in the future of our county and look forward to serving our citizens.”
Richardson and his wife, Becky, live in Braselton and are members of Blackshear Place Baptist Church and have three children and seven grandchildren.
