JACKSON COUNTY lost 4-2 Tuesday night to White County, squandering a 2-1 lead late.
The Warriors scored three times in the top of the seventh to hand the Panthers (1-1) their first loss of the season.
“It was really a game of inches,” coach Tommy Fountain said, noting that his team barley missed a bases-loaded double that would have given the Panthers insurance runs in the sixth inning.
Patrick Overstreet went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, while Ben Brissey was 1-for-2 with a run and Jacob Banks was 1-for-3 with a run
On the mound, Andrew Fogarty took the loss in relief. Coleman Barbee started, throwing four innings, giving up one run and two hits while striking out five.
Jackson County returns to action today (Wednesday) at Johnson (5:55 p.m.)
