It’s state tournament time for the Bethlehem Christian Academy boys basketball team.
The Knights finished as the Region 1-A tournament runner-up last week falling to Curtis Baptist in the championship game.
BCA defeated Nathanael Greene 47-45 in the semifinals after Jacob Walls made a pair of free throws with one second remaining on the clock.
BCA will face Citizens Christian Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Thomas Jefferson Academy. If the Knights win they will play Saturday.
Citizens Christian and BCA did not play any mutual opponents.
“They are similar to Nathanael Greene in some ways,” Barth said. “They have a couple of players who can do some damage if you leave them open. We need to put some man-to-man pressure on their guard.”
The Bethlehem Christian Academy Lady Knights fell to John Hancock in the opening game of the Region 1-A tournament, ending their season for 2013-2014.
Lady Knights coach Mike Elmankabady said his team was not at full strength due to injury and sickness.
“We made improvements this season,” the coach said. “We are still working to build the program. I think we will continue to improve and have the potential to earn more wins next season.”
BCA will move up to GISA Class AAA next season.
