BALDWIN - Bobby Joe Caudell, 76, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at his residence.
Born on December 13, 1937, in Banks County, he was a son of the late Lee and Myrtle Ausburn Caudell. Mr. Caudell was the owner and operator of The Steak House in Baldwin for 43 years and was a member of Baldwin Baptist Church. He also was a poultry farmer who proudly grew for Fieldale Farms and was honored as the first grower of Springer Mountain Farms. Mr. Caudell was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Caudell.
Since 1972, Mr. Caudell was a dedicated member of the Rotary Club of Habersham, where he was awarded 39 years of perfect attendance in 2011. He was also a member of the Banks County Cattleman’s Association and the American Legion. Mr. Caudell was an avid NASCAR and University of Georgia football fan. He was also an Army Reserve.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Chan and Tammy Caudell, Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Tora Caudell-Pierce and Jerrie, Monroe; mother of his children, Linda Caudell, Baldwin; grandchildren, Gracie and Smith Caudell, Chasen, Zara, Adrian and Clay Pierce; great-grandchild, Brayden Beddington; brother, Mack Caudell, Baldwin; and sister, Mary Lou Meister, Baldwin.
Funeral services are scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Level Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Terry Rice, Billy Burrell, Mr. John C. Foster, and Mr. T. Andy Dowdy officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at the funeral home.
