Nick Zvirbulis, Tyler Fragapane and Destany McDaniel continued their standout track seasons for Apalachee High School by breaking school records last week during a meet hosted by Jefferson High School.
Zvirbulis ran the 3,200-meter run in 10:28 while Fragapane threw 48-.5 in the shot put. McDaniel’s mark of 17-0 was also a school record in the long jump.
Jody Mathis was first in the event in the long jump (20-9.5) and the triple jump (41-1.5).
Fragapane’s school record throw in the shot put was also good enough to win the overall feet. McDaniel, who won the long jump competition for the Lady Wildcats, also was fourth in the 400-meter dash in 1:08.94.
Zvirbulis was fourth in the 1,600-meter run (4;51.50) and the 3.200-meter (10:28.)
The AHS boys were third overall at the event behind Jefferson and North Hall.
Brooke Hardegree won the triple jump (33-.5) and was third in the long jump (15-4).
Also for the Lady Wildcats, Logan Leverette was runner-up in the triple jump with a mark of 32-6. Sakshi Gosain helped the AHS girls to a third-place overall finish with a 4-10 in the high jump. Teammate Makayla Wilson was third in the event art 4-8.
Analee Bradach was second for the Lady Wildcats in the 1,600-meter run (5:58) and 800-meter run (2:42.82).
The Lady Wildcats were third finishing behind North Hall and Jefferson. AHS compiled 42 points at the March 19 competition.
