Spring sports scoreboard for April 8-15
•JACKSON CO. 4, ELBERT CO. 1: The Panthers clinched a spot in the state tournament for the first time in school history with a win over the visiting Blue Devils Thursday, improving their region record to 4-0. Jackson County is now 7-4-1 overall and faces a big region matchup with North Oconee Tuesday. The Panthers have three region games remaining.
•JACKSON CO. (BOYS) 1, CEDAR SHOALS 0: The Panthers got a second-half goal from Phillip Burzo in a Tuesday road win over non-region foe Cedar Shoals. Goalie Luis Sanchez recorded the shutout while Dylan Stow, Jimmy Reilly, Trevor Logan, Luis Caraballo and Steven Gowen led the defensive effort.
•JACKSON CO. (GIRLS) 2, CEDAR SHOALS 0: The Lady Panthers received goals from Anna Leigh Staton and Katie Phillips in a shutout win Tuesday on the road against the Lady Jaguars in non-region play. Jessica Wells had an assist.
•HART CO. 171, JACKSON CO. (BOYS) 174, APALACHEE 182: Senior York Delloyd fired a 37 in his final regular season match to led the Panthers to a second-place finish in a tri-match. Following Delloyd were Anthony Whobrey (40), Ian McGaughey (48) and Noah Custer (49).
•JACKSON CO. (BOYS) 170, COMMERCE 188, EAST JACKSON 189: Led by Anthony Whobrey’s round of 38, the Panther golf team topped a pair of intra county foes Wednesday at Double Oaks. York Delloyd added a 40 and Ian McGaughey and Grant Richardson rounded out the scoring with rounds of 46. For the Eagles, Jake Golob led East Jackson with a 42 followed by Mason Walker (45), Samuel Benson (48) and Logan Ivester (54).
•JACKSON CO. (GIRLS) 138, COMMERCE 163, EAST JACKSON 175: Jordan Garner fired a 44 to lead the Lady Panthers to victories over a pair of nearby rivals Wednesday at Double Oaks. Haleigh McCullum (46) and Sierra Gunnin (48) rounded out the scoring.
