Todd Woodring and Layson Giles both won individual region championships at this week’s 8-AAA meet while three other Jackson County athletes qualified for the state sectionals.
Woodring won the 400 meter title with a time of 49.24 seconds and finished second in the 200 meters (22.55 seconds).
Giles won the high jump with a jump of 6-4.
Woodring and Giles will both move on to sectionals.
The Panthers also qualified two hurdlers for sectionals — Nick Stovall, who was second in the 110-meter hurdles (16.70 seconds) and Hunter Elllingwood (42.76 seconds).
For the girls, Destiny Gaudlock qualified for sectionals in two events, finishing second in the triple jump with a jump of 34-10.75 and the high jump with a jump of 4-10.
The Jackson County girls finished fifth at region with 51.5 points and the boys took sixth with 50 points.
Sectionals will be held at East Jackson Comprehensive High School April 26.
