The Bethlehem Christian Academy baseball team was eager to return to the diamond last week and visiting Nathanael Greene Academy felt the full force of that desire as the Knights earned an 18-0 GISA Region 1-A victory.
Tanner Still earned the win after working three innings as the game was called for the 15-run mercy rule after the third. Still did not allow a hit and had two strikeouts.
Offensively, BCA scored six runs in the bottom of the first and 12 more in the second to send the Patriots back home with a defeat. The win improved the Knights to 9-4 overall and 4-0 in region play.
A doubleheader against The Heritage School in Newnan was rained out Saturday. The games were added just last week in an attempt to allow BCA more on-the-field action.
The Class A Knights are scheduled to host Class AA Piedmont Academy Thursday at 4:30 p.m. a non-region contest. The Cougars entered the week 16-4 overall. BCA defeated Piedmont 8-6 in 10 innings on March 27 in Monticello.
In Thursday’s win against Nathanael Greene, Luke Allen, Ryan Whiting, Brad Toxen, Jacob Walls, Brady Stewart, Jacob Parker and P.J. Klein all contributed offensively. Allen also had a two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning.
BCA traveled to Augusta Tuesday to face region foe Curtis Baptist and recorded an 8-4 win. That victory put the Knights a step closer to another region title.
