On April 24, at approximately 11:15 a.m., deputies with the Banks County Sheriff’s Office responded to Starbucks in Banks Crossing regarding a report of a suspicious package.
Deputies did locate an object in the parking lot that appeared to contain materials that were consistent with an improvised explosive device.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation EOD Team was requested to respond to the scene where a certified bomb technician declared that the package was non-explosive. A secondary security sweep was conducted around the business to ensure that no further threat was present. The business resumed trade at approximately 1:45 p.m.
“The contents of the package have been taken as evidence by Banks County investigators to be further examined,” Sgt. Carissa McFaddin said. “Surveillance video is being sought at this time.”
