A bomb scare led to students being evacuated Wednesday morning at East Jackson High School – including eighth grade students taking CRCTs. School officials posted a statement saying graffitti was discovered on a restroom wall at East Jackson High School stating a bomb would go off.
Students were evacuated to the school’s stadium and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office cleared the school with bomb sniffing dogs.
The eighth graders taking the test were moved to East Jackson Middle School.
As of 1:30 p.m., all students were safely returned to their classes.
No word yet on whether authorities have found a culprit.
Sheriff Janis Mangum said the investigation will continue, but there are no leads at this time. The JCSO was aided by the University of Georgia bomb squad and law enforcement from Habersham and Hall counties.
