Now it’s the boys turn.
Athletes from Winder-Barrow High School and Apalachee High School will compete at the state track meet this week in Jefferson and look to test their skills against the premier athletes across Georgia.
Winder-Barrow’s William Wright and Apalachee’s Nick Zvirbulis will compete in distance events. Wright will run the 1,600-meter run while Zvirbulis will be in the 3,200-meter event.
Ethan Womack will compete in the shot put for the Bulldoggs in Jefferson after throwing a personal best 51-2 at sectionals. Tyler Fragapane of AHS returns to state this season in the shot put along with teammate Ralph Williams.
Justin Thompson will represent WBHS in the pole vault as will teammate Tyrin Moore.
The pole vault and shot put competitions are set for 11 a.m. Thursday. The 1,600-meter races will begin at 7:10 p.m. Thursday. The 3,200-meter run will be Friday at 6:30 p.m.
