With 34 points, second-place Jefferson trails Class AA leader Westminster by 17.5 points heading into the final day of the boys' state track meet.
Westminster finished day two with 51.5 points.
In the only finals event of the day, Jefferson’s Addison Cochran took seventh in the Class AA 3,200 meters (10:29.62).
Meanwhile, Westminster padded its lead in the Class AA standings during the 3,200 meters, netting 16 points behind first and third-place finishes in the event.
All other events Friday were qualifying heats, with Jefferson advancing athletes in four events for Saturday’s finals.
Dalton Hill qualified in both the 110-meter runners (15.14 seconds) and 300-meter hurdles (39.07 seconds), running the second-fastest qualifying time in the 300-meter hurdles. Tradd Porter advanced to the finals in the 800 meters with a qualifying time of 2:00.49. The 4x400 meter team also advanced, running a 3:28.25.
Competing but not qualifying for the state finals were Josh Reid (800 meters, 2:14.75), Conner McCullough (300-meter hurdles, 42.86) and the 4x100 meter relay team (44.10).
