Trees were down and minor damage was reported after a heavy storm passed through Banks County Wednesday night, May 14.
Substantial winds and flooding were reported with the worst being near midnight when calls began reporting high winds with trees down.
Banks County public safety workers received 13 storm related calls.
“At this time, a tornado is suspected – not confirmed,” Deidra Moore, Banks County EMA/E-911 director, said Thursday morning. “A preliminary damage assessment is underway. Only minor property damage is reported at this time.”
Moss Farm Road is closed due to flooding. Gallow Road is closed due to downed trees.
“Please be mindful of the forecast for the remainder of the day and through Friday evening,” Moore said. “There is still some chance for storms but mostly rain, please monitor your personal weather devices.”
