Madison County’s new magistrate judge will be David Patton, who defeated Greg Sartain 1,936 to 749 (72.1 to 27.9 percent), in Tuesday’s election.
Meanwhile, challenger Angie McGinnis topped incumbent Arlen Johnson 346-246 (58.5 to 41.5 percent) for the District 2 seat on the Madison County School Board.
Only 20.5 percent of Madison County’s registered voters — 2,890 of 14,126 — participated in Tuesday's election and early voting.
