A fire at the Huber Engineered Woods plant on Hwy. 334 below Commerce caused moderate damage to a piping system used to move product from one location to another early on Thursday, according to Steve Nichols, director of emergency services for Jackson County.
Firemen from the Commerce, Nicholson, Maysville and Jackson County Correctional Institute fire departments responded at 2:11 a.m. to a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, they found fire showing from the piping system.
They quickly extinguished the blaze, and while the piping system suffered damage, Nichols said there was no damage to the building.
There were no injuries. Firemen left the scene at 4:34 a.m.
