After receiving reports of abandoned boxer dogs at a Bethlehem house, one dog has been rescued by Atlanta Boxer Rescue group.
According to ABR, Felix was 30 percent underweight with intestinal parasites and heartworms.
Barrow County Animal Control received reports of the abandonment, began monitoring the situation, and sent information to local rescue groups.
According to neighbors, the tenants had been gone for approximately one month. People had come to visit the house, but were inconsistent.
Upon arrival, the ABR group found one dog tied up in the yard. No food or clean water was found at the time, but the dog had shelter in the shade and seemed to be friendly and of good temperament.
According to animal control, the dog was thin and needed to visit a veterinarian. The owner voluntarily surrendered the dog who was taken to the vet.
