Sea Dragon bead coach Tess Nunnally knew that her swimmers had the potential to have a big meet at Saturday’s Winder Pentathlon.
What took place exceeded even her own expectations.
“Our kids just really showed out,” Nunnally said. “They’ve been working so hard in practice so to see their hard work come to fruition this early in the year, it’s really rewarding as a coach.”
Jefferson boasted 18 top 10 finishers and four age group winners — 8u Lauren Green (8U), Alyssa Bartoletta (10U), McKenzie Klinck (12U) and Haley Bartoletta (14U). Green and Haley Bartoletta won each of their five races.
“This meet really shows how deep we are in some age groups,” team administrator Chad Klinck said. “We’ve always been known for being dominant with a couple of our elite female swimmers but what they put together from top to bottom today both girls and boys, it really puts the league on notice. The Stingrays (eight-time defending league champ, Gwinnett County) probably left today feeling a little uneasy about the NGSL Championship meet in July. And that’s good.”
The Sea Dragons hit the water this week for eight practices and compete again Saturday at the SPLASH Invitational at Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center in Habersham County.
