The Winder-Barrow High School baseball team has been busy this summer.
Coach Brian Smith’s Bulldoggs ventured to camp at Mississippi State University last week and had the chance to face quality opposition and to gain valuable teaching.
“We played several games,” Smith said. “It’s the seventh year in a row we’ve gone to the camp. You get to concentrate on baseball and nothing else. There is nothing to do but play baseball all day. You get up early and break down every part of the game. It’s the best camp in the country. We love it.”
Summer work will continue for the WBHS team through June. Following the self-imposed “dead week” by the Georgia High School Association, some players will continue postseason work through July.
“We want to get as strong as we can and be ready for preseason practice,” Smith said.
