There are several “Fourth of July” events happening around the county — many planned for this weekend, offering citizens two weekends of patriotic fun.
•The City of Nicholson will hold its annual Fourth of July at the Nicholson City Park from 6-10 p.m. The event will include fireworks, inflatables, games, food and live entertainment. Music will be provided by local singer/songwriter Ricky Fitzpatrick and Commerce-band Hooch Holler. Food will include hamburgers, hot dogs, boiled peanuts, ice cream, and more. There will also be a quilt raffled off with proceeds benefitting the public library in Nicholson.
•The Jefferson Freedom Festival will take place on June 28 from 5-10 p.m. in downtown Jefferson. Grains of Sand will perform musical entertainment and vendor booths will feature food, games, crafts, ice cream and other treats. Bring a lawn chair. Fireworks will start at approximately 9:30 p.m.
•There will be music and fireworks at Spencer Park in downtown Commerce on Saturday, June 28, from 6-10 p.m. The Atlanta Highway Band will perform.
•The Celebrate Braselton festival begins at 4 p.m. in the Braselton Park on Harrison Street. The event will feature live music, food, crafts and children’s games. The parade begins at 6 p.m., and a fireworks extravaganza will close the evening. All events are free.
