A vehicle chase that originated in Oconee County, S.C., ended on Interstate 85 in Banks County at mile marker 150 at approximately 1:55 a.m. this morning, July 2.
The driver, identified as Kenneth Jones, 24, of South Carolina, faces charges from Oconee County, S.C., Franklin County and Banks County.
Banks County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Carissa McFaddin said, “Oconee County (S.C.) attempted to stop Jones after a traffic violation when he fled. During the high-speed pursuit, authorities were advised that Jones had outstanding warrants out of Pickens County, S.C.”
McFaddin said, “Once the pursuit reached Banks County on I-85, BCSO deputies took over at which time Jones attempted to aggressively ram Banks County patrol units.”
“A pursuit intervention technique (P.I.T.) was then completed by Banks County where the pursuit was then ended,” McFaddin said.
Jones was injured when his vehicle crashed and was life flighted from the scene to Grady Hospital, Atlanta.
