Horace Grady Chandler, 90, passed away at his residence on Thursday, June 26, 2014.
Mr. Chandler was the son of the late William Thomas Chandler and Sallie Graham Chandler. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Collins Chandler; three sisters, Willie Jo Chandler Lord, Georgia Chandler Sorrow, and Frances Chandler James; and a brother Ralph Chandler. Mr. Chandler worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps in Montesano, Wash. and then retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, a member of the American Legion #215, and a member of the Phi Delta Masonic Lodge #148.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Thompson Chandler, Commerce; a stepson and his wife, George and Janelle Thompson, Stockbridge; a stepdaughter and her husband, Elaine and Stan Jones, Homer; two step-granddaughters; one step-great-granddaughter; three step-great-grandsons; and several special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 28, from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Revs. Calvin Ward and Bill Calhoun officiating. Burial was in the Danielsville City Cemetery.
