A liquor still was discovered in Arcade after police officers received a tip.
The still was found on the property where an earlier alleged sex crime occurred. In that incident, Craig Adam Mulligan, 26, 516 Swann Road, was charged by the Arcade Police Department with rape, aggravated sodomy and false imprisonment/aggravated stalking. After Mulligan was jailed on the above charges, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the residence and someone showed them an illegal liquor still in a building on the property. The county deputies alerted the Arcade Police Department of the situation and they, along with members of the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), responded to the residence on Tuesday morning to destroy the still.
Items found at the scene included Mason jars containing an alcoholic beverage, sugar, yeast, two composition books with receipts for the manufacturing of alcoholic beverages, one book titled “Moonshine” written by Matthew Rowley and one book titled “Me and My Likker” written by Popcorn Sutton.
