A child was locked inside a vehicle for 5-10 minutes outside of a Washington Street business last week in Jefferson, according to a police report.
The mother told an officer that in the process of getting one child outside of the vehicle, another child that was secured in a car seat inside the vehicle, was locked inside, along with her phone and keys. The mother said she immediately ran inside the business to borrow a phone and called 911. A responding officer was able to gain access to the vehicle and retrieve the child. The fire department responded and the child was O.K.
