Residents of eight Commerce streets can look forward to smoother rides in the near future.
As expected, the city council voted Monday night to accept a Department of Transportation local maintenance and improvement grant, which it will supplement with SLPOST revenue earmarked for roads to fund the work.
The streets include:
•Sam Brown Boulevard from Clayton Street to Waterworks Road, .43 miles, Ward 3
•Lakeview Drive, from Waterworks Road to Minish Drive, .37 miles, Ward 4
•South Victoria Street, from Williford Street to Victoria Street, .23 miles, Ward 2
•Duncan Street, from MLK Drive to Duncan Circle, .49 miles, Ward 1
•Forest Hill Court, from Lakeview Drive to its dead end, .20 miles, Ward 4
•Windy Hills, from State Street to its dead end, .1 miles, Ward 1
•Ridgeway Road, from the section of new pavement to Mt. Olive Church Road, .18 miles, Ward 5
•a section of Shankle Road damaged by the Spring Street sewer rehab project, Ward 2
The work is expected to take place this fall.
