A woman who tried to use a counterfeit $20 bill to buy goods at the Family Dollar Store on B. Wilson Road was not too happy that police confiscated the funny money.
According to the incident report, police responded to the store and found the shopper still there. The 69-year-old white female explained to police that she’d cashed in $25 in winning lottery tickets at the Maysville Golden Pantry and got the $20 bill and a $5 bill in payment.
She wanted the bill back so she could return to the Golden Pantry and get paid, she told the officer. He explained that he had to keep the bill. The officer gave her a receipt.
