The final piece to the Winder-Barrow High School football coaching staff puzzle is now in place.
Brandon Patrum was officially approved as a new hire Tuesday night by the Barrow County Board of Education and will be the team’s new defensive coordinator. Patrum was a senior at Habersham Central when WBHS head coach Heath Webb began his coaching career at the Cornelia school.
The two later coached together at Lumpkin County.
“We’ve remained close through the years,” Webb said. “He will be a great addition to our coaching staff.”
Patrum has been working with the Bulldoggs during the spring and summer.
“He was working on faith that everything would be taken care of,” Webb said. “At times, these things just take a while to get down. The administration here has been great with working with me and the program on getting our coaches hired. When they give their word, they mean it.”
Previous hires to Webb’s first coaching staff include:
•Chris Davis, assistant head coach, strength and conditioning coordinator
•Naji Lyon, offensive coordinator/offensive line
•Van Samples, defensive line
•Devin Allison, cornerbacks
•Paul Hoch, outside linebackers, safeties
•Luther Price, outside receivers
•Jeff Maddox, running backs
•Isaiah Berry, kickers/punters
•Elton Lynn, head ninth grade coach
•Russell Spicer, assistant ninth grade coach
•Brian Evans, assistant ninth grade coach
•Elihue Foskey, long snappers/nine grade assistant
Webb said he believes he has assembled a coaching staff that equals any program in Region 8-AAAAA.
