An area doctor is moving her practice and another physician will be joining her at a Hwy. 124 location in the West Jackson area, near the Chadwick Farms and Traditions of Braselton neighborhoods.
The Northeast Georgia Physicians Group — an affiliate of the Northeast Georgia Health System, which is building a new hospital in Braselton — will open Aug. 4 for new and current patients of Dr. Marissa Mercado. Joining the practice in October will be Dr. Scott Ellis who will be moving from North Carolina.
The new facility is approximately 9,000-square-feet and has the potential space for four doctors. The building includes a front office with a waiting room and children’s area, a front office with a triage room, a full lab, an X-ray machine, a procedure room and a sub-waiting room. There will be three nurses on staff and once it is busy enough, the location will have a permanent lab technician on premises. The lab room will begin as “low-complexity,” which can run various tests. The space that Dr. Mercado and Dr. Ellis will occupy will include a doctor pod and six fully equipped exam rooms.
The atmosphere has the identical color scheme and architectural design as other physicians groups, urgent care centers and hospitals within the Northeast Georgia Health System. Local builders were used for a majority of the contract work and the artwork is provided by a local artist and reflects images of the Southeastern United States.
A family-friendly open house is planned for Saturday, Oct. 11. The practice is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Same-day appointments are available. The phone number is 706-658-2452. For more information, visit www.ngpg.org/west-jackson.
