The Hoschton City Council held a public meeting on proposed wastewater improvements plans prior to its regular council meeting on Monday. Jerry Hood, the city’s contract engineering with Engineering Management Inc. (EMI), gave an update on the city’s status in the project. A public meeting is required by the USDA in the funding process.
Proposed funding for the project is a $300,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission, which will be administered out of the Monroe office of the USDA. A total of $310,000 will be matched by local funding.
Once the design is approved, permitting and bids will go out in 2015 and construction will start in late 2015 to early 2016.
