Beginning Sept. 1, the fee for using the county’s ambulance service will increase.
The Jackson County Board of Commissioners approved an ambulance fee increase Monday night. The increases range from $80 to .50 cents, depending on the service.
“The request for increases will realign our service with surrounding counties,” county manager Kevin Poe said. “With this increase, the service will remain mid-position with our jurisdictions. The increased revenue from these charges will be utilized to continue the service level we currently experience and help offset the cost to add an additional Med unit on a 12-hour schedule seven days a week.”
In other action Monday, the BOC agreed to add a seventh ambulance, to be used on a 12-hour per day, seven day a week schedule.
