MONTROSE, MINN. - Lula Faye Jenkins passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014, at her residence with her son and daughter by her side. Diagnosed with lung cancer on November 18, 2013, she fought a short, but courageous battle.
Faye was born November 23, 1944, in Royston, Georgia, the daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah (Bond) Cromer. She graduated from Madison County High School in 1962. On October 8, 1966, she was united in marriage to Harry Jenkins Jr. of Sardis, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Jenkins Jr.; and sister, Mary Francis Carter.
She retired from Baker and Taylor in 2010. Some of her fondest memories were of her coworkers from Baker and Taylor, as well as Arcade Apparel. Music was her life and she often performed at benefit singings and with local groups. She loved singing with Charles and Enise Reese, her brother Doyle Cromer, nephew Jimmy Cromer, Freddie Smith and Clarke Kesler.
Survivors include two children, Tammy (Timothy) Emon and Timothy Jenkins (significant other Alisa Nelson); five brothers, James, Doyle, Philip, Seaborn, and JC Cromer; a special niece that she held dear to her heart, Debra Carter Brock; one grandchild; and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 20, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1459 Jotemdown Rd., Danielsville, Georgia, with Douglas Duncan officiating. Graveside service will follow at the Jackson Memorial Cemetery with Charles Reese officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
