Runners for the Apalachee High School and Winder-Barrow High School cross country teams continued to shine early in the 2014 season Saturday.
The WBHS teams, coached by Michael Lofton, competed in the 11th War Eagle Invitational, hosted by Chestatee High School in Hall County. The WBHS varsity boys won the event with Timmy Villameter placing fifth individually. Nelson Lofton was sixth overall and Dakota Kay was 10th.
The WBHS Lady Bulldoggs were second overall paced by a third-place finish by Micah Weathers. Macy Hayes was seventh in Saturday’s race while Sara Carpenter was 10th.
Tyler Dennis and Izzy Martin paced WBHS in the JV competition.
For AHS, the varsity boys were fourth overall behind host East Jackson High School at Lamar Murphy Park and AAAAAA schools Mountain View and Archer. Jeremy Dyal received a medal for finishing 8th with a time of 17:17. Chandler Campbell received a medal finishing 17th with a time of 18:24. Merit Fontinel medaled finishing 23rd with a time of 18:37.
The AHS varsity girls finished sixth and were led by Analee Bradach medaling with a 24th place finish in 24:18.
WBHS and AHS will compete Saturday at the North Georgia Technical College Mountain Eagle Invitational in Clarkesville.
