A man said a family member has stolen more than $21,000 in credit card purchases from her terminally ill mother, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
The man reported the financial card fraud at an Old Thompson Mill Road, Hoschton, address, where he said a family member opened three credit card accounts as a joint account with her terminally ill mother.
The woman’s daughter applied for the accounts and used one of her mother’s credit cards without permission. The man said he has power of attorney in the terminally ill woman’s affairs.
The daughter admitted to signing her mother’s name on the applications for the credit cards, the man said. The total theft was more than $21,000.

Other incidents in the West Jackson area reported to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office last week included:
•illegal dumping at the Broadmoor subdivision in Braselton, where a child’s big wheel vehicle was found. There were other dumping spots in the subdivision.
•dispute a Cecil Clark Road, Braselton, address, where a woman said three males in a SUV pulled into her driveway, and confronted her son and his friend about the friend stealing something from one of their girlfriends. The woman told the males to leave. The son and his friend left the driveway on foot, and a deputy couldn’t find them when he searched the area. The woman said her son took a baseball bat when he left.
•prowler at a Duck Road, Braselton, address, where a woman said someone had been coming around her house and peeking inside the residence between 10 a.m. and 5 a.m. The woman said it had been going on for a long time, but now she saw someone outside her residence. The woman suspected a man who lives on a nearby street was the prowler
•theft of motorcycle at a Gum Springs Church Road, Jefferson, address, where a man said he had a motorcycle for sale in his yard. While the man was at work, someone stole the motorcycle.
