A Hoschton officer spotted two suscipous men — who turned out to be involved in a burglary.
The officer said he noticed that a van driving through downtown Hoschton was traveling below the speed limit. He also said the men seemed to avoid eye contact with him when he took note of the van.
The van then made an abrupt stop on West Broad Street, and two men jumped out of the vehicle and started running, according to an incident report. The keys were left in the ignition.
At the same time, emergency dispatchers advised area police that a suspicious van was seen quickly leaving Georgia Foundations on Jackson Trail Road. The van matched the description of the suspect’s van left on West Broad Street.
The officer found 20 forms from the company stacked in the van, along with a pair of bolt cutters. Previously, Georgia Foundations had reported two separate incidents of forms valued at $100,000 stolen from the company.
Hoschton police found that a fence around the company was cut. Police didn’t know the value of the forms found in the suspect’s van.
The suspects were not caught and remain at large, according to police.
One man was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’7”, 165 pounds, with a slender build and black hair.
The second man was described as a Hispanic male with black hair.
Hoschton Incidents
The following incidents were reported to the Hoschton Police Department:
•entering an auto with intent to commit a theft at West Jackson Medicine Shop on Ga. Hwy. 53, where a woman said she left her purse in her vehicle and went inside the store. When she returned, her purse was missing. The purse contained two debit cards, a pair of sunglasses and other items.
•computer trespass at a Serenity Court address, where a woman said her computer crashed and lost all of her personal information. Two days later, the woman said she was contacted by a man who said he observed on the internet that her computer crashed and it was probably caused by a virus. The woman didn’t contact the man, but contacted her computer company — who said it had no affiliation with that computer and they would contact their security department. The computer company told the woman to call police, who later said Support.Click is listed as a confirmed scam. The woman didn’t give any personal information over the phone and the suspect didn’t call back.
•speeding on Peachtree Road, where an officer said a man was driving 52 m.p.h. in a 35 m.p.h. zone. The driver didn’t have valid insurance and a three-year-old child in the rear seat wasn’t secured in a child seat or booster seat.
