Madison County deputy Lt. Mark McCarty resigned last week after he was arrested in Barrow County on battery and false imprisonment charges. According to Madison County Chief Deputy Captain Mike Benner, McCarty was arrested by Barrow County deputies on July 26 following a domestic violence complaint involving a girlfriend. Whiskey drinking men of the old west were smacked on the head, snatched off their bar stools and forced onto boats bound for China to serve as cheap labor on the high seas in the 1800s. Danielsville leaders seek fix for sewage pond

Danielsville city leaders are looking for a way to bring the town’s sewage pond up to state environmental standards. Comer to authorize $100,000 in credit for SPLOST projects

Needing to expedite some top-priority water projects, the Comer City Council voted Monday to authorize a $100,000 line of credit with a local bank.
