A Superior Jourt judge tossed out a petition on Friday calling for the recall of Pendergrass council members, but didn’t issue a ruling on Mayor Monk Tolbert. Winder man killed by rattlesnake bite

A Winder man was killed Saturday after being bitten by a rattlesnake. Richard “Dick” Rupert, age 68, was hunting with his son and grandson in Oglethorpe County when the incident occurred. H1N1 flu vaccine now available in county

An early shipment of vaccine for the 2009 H1N1 flu (swine flu) came into the Jackson County Health Department on Tuesday of this week. Quantities are limited in this first shipment of vaccine, so the vaccine has only been sent to public health clinics. The wife of Nicholson Mayor Ronnie Maxwell was slapped by another woman during last Thursday’s city council meeting. Pam Presley slapped Gail Maxwell at the meeting while the council was in a closed session in another room. Presley had earlier appeared before the council to complain about a building permit issue. Robbers caught after Jefferson RaceTrac robbed Fri. night

Three Hispanic teens are in custody following an armed robbery at the Jefferson I-85 RaceTrac late Friday night.

Jefferson Police Chief Joe Wirthman said Saturday that the three robbed the service station around 1:20 a.m. a Braselton officer spotted the men traveling down I-85 and gave chase, along with Gwinnett officers.

The suspects exited at Exit 111 an went toward Forsyth County. They wrecked about 7 miles north of I-85. Two were captured at the scene and the third was arrested Saturday morning.

The suspects threw their guns out during the chase and officers are still trying to recover those. Most of the money was recovered, Wirthman said.

GBI: Pendergrass probe not yet begun; citizens rip council
