An Athens man was charged last week with DUI and other traffic violations after Deputy David Kidd pulled him over for speeding near Ila. Convenience store owner charged with illegal gambling

A Statham man was arrested Friday night on commercial gambling violations following a Piedmont Northern MANS unit raid on his Hull convenience store. Mohammad Shafiq, 39, of 176 Ernie Way, Statham, was booked into the Madison County Jail on two charges of commercial gambling. Madison County Sheriff’s Office officers assisted in the raids. ...
