The Georgia Department of Banking and Finance took possession of The Peoples Bank, Winder, Friday evening. Through an agreement with the FDIC, The Peoples Bank will be acquired by Community & Southern Bank, Carrollton. It was one of three banks to fail in Georgia this week. The Barrow County School System will appeal some of its AYP results for the past year. New water rate amended after error discovered

Barrow County’s wholesale water rate in July may not jump as high as expected, because the county government’s rate analysis was wrong. Instead of raising the rate to $2.60 per 1,000 gallons, the county will raise it to $2.22 for any municipal system that contracts to purchase at least 300,000 gallons of water each day.
