A man said he was traveling on Archer Grove School Road when he stopped and got into a verbal dispute with a man who is now dating his wife, who he is separated from. He said the man shot at his truck during the altercation, according to the incident report filed at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Jackson County’s unemployment rate reaches 7.4%

The unemployment rate in Jackson County hit 7.4 percent in November, double the rate it was just one year ago. According to state numbers, some 2,097 Jackson Countians are unemployed. Former Jefferson Police Captian Dennis L. Thomas of Jefferson, was indicted by a federal grand jury Friday on charges of possession of a firearm while being a drug user and possession of a hand grenade.
